Umtha is a Fair Trade business handcrafting
beaded jewellery since 1992. Umtha is a
Xhosa word meaning 'ray of light'. Umtha’s
vision is to provide employment
opportunities for the previously
disadvantaged, and refugees living in Cape
Town. The goal is to create an environment
that is empowering and equipping for all.
At Umtha, employees are trained in skills
relating to the jewellery industry as well as
in business and life skills. It is also Umtha’s
vision to design and produce top quality,
innovative jewellery. Umtha wants
customers to enjoy Umtha products with
the knowledge that they are helping to
build the South African economy from the
grass-roots up. Umtha operates more as a
wholesaler and therefore sells mainly to
retailers and not to direct consumers.
We are regularly Selling: handcrafted earrings, handcrafted necklaces, handcrafted bangles, fresh water pearl jewellry, ostrich egg-shell pendants, semi-precious stone jewellery.
We are regularly Buying: glass and wooden beads, metal castings, bone beads, semi-precious stones, glass pearls. |
