Midea Group now is one of the largest manufacturing and exportation bases of household appliances in China with total employees 80,000.
In 1980, Midea entered into the household appliance industry.
In 1981, the brand "Midea" was created and used.
In 2001, Midea transformed into a private business.
In 2004, Midea procured the Hefei joint venture of Royalstar-Maytag (ROYALSTAR) and the Guangzhou Hualing group (HUALING), continuing on the way to become an electric appliance giant.
The brand of Midea is one of "China's Top 10 Brands", Midea achieved 4 billion dollars brand value in 2006, ranking No. 7 all over the country. (Evaluated by China Famous-brand Evaluation Co., Ltd.)
The turnover exceeded 7.3 billion dollars in 2006, increased of 22% over 2005
The exportation exceeded 2.2 billion dollars in 2006, with an increase of 30% over 2005.
